What is the proper way to measure?

We need both a waist measurement and a finished length measurement to make your character skirt.

The waist measurement should be taken with good posture, standing tall but not holding your stomach in. If you select a hook and eye closure and would like growing room built into the skirt , we are happy to add an extra eye at no additional cost. If you would like an extra eye sewn on, there is an option on the order form to request that.

Note: The extra inch for growth is not available with the Velcro closure option.

The standard length for a character skirt is mid calf. You cannot properly measure your own length because you need to stand straight in order to be accurate. It is best to have someone else do it for you, measuring from the waist down to the middle (widest part) of the calf. Please note that some teachers prefer the skirts a little shorter and some a little longer so it is best to check with your teacher before you measure.
